Learning Curve is a Language and Visual Arts project that engages students with activities that promote self-inventory and elevate important dialogue that builds community.
Incarcerated, adult students collect and edit their peers’ self-narratives, helping them extract valuable life lessons from their backstories. Teen artists then process these life lessons through competitive coloring activities. The colored, self-narratives are then displayed at the correctional facility and distributed, free of charge, throughout the local community, extending the conversation.*
The goal of this project is to facilitate deeper discussions about life choices and to encourage self-reflection, critical thinking and community awareness. Our society becomes stronger when we each take stock of our lives, when we recognize the struggles of others and when everyone’s stories are valued and heard.
*Anonymity is strictly enforced for all participants.
